Go Gators!

As most of you know, football season is a big deal at our house.  I even have a maternity shirt on that says "Gator Incubator" and an arrow points to my belly.  Todd is holding the little Gator dress that we have ready for Ali, and Coco has her own Gator "necklace" aka collar.  Go Gators - good win tonight!  Todd tries to tell Ali that she can't come on a Saturday during a game.  We'll see if she's listening....

State Fair of Texas!

They say everything is bigger in Texas!  Well, the State Fair is no exception.  I wanted to make it to the fair to have some fried yummy goodness before Ali arrives, and I have to be on a diet.  We went to the fair on Friday night which was opening day.  My goal was to get a corny dog and funnel cake.  Todd's mission was to try the fried margarita and fried beer.  I tend to stick to the tried and true, while Todd likes to live on the edge and try the new fried novelties.  I guess he hasn't learned from his fried moon pie experience last year that caused his stomach to hate him.

Big Tex greets us at the Fair!

First off, we check out the Fried Margarita.  You do get carded for this thing since it's a margarita with fried margarita in it with whipped cream on top.  It was pretty tasty.  I might have it again, although there's always something new to try.

Then, we continued our fried food quest... and we walked right up to the Fried Beer stand.  Unfortunately, we were too excited to try it and finished it before we realized we didn't snap a picture.  Basically, these things looked like fried raviolis and they had liquid beer in them.  Not so great.  We're glad we tried them, but it's definitely a pass next time.

Next, we headed over to the main Fletcher's corny dog stand and got us a jalapeno and cheese corny dog.  I don't know what it is about fair corny dog, but they are definitely better than any one I can make.  Here's Todd all fixed up with the corny dog and beer.  Life is good.

In my third trimester, I've discovered a new hazard... my expanding belly!  I don't typically think of myself as a messy eat (correct me if I'm wrong!), but it seems that lately, everything that's been meant for my mouth somehow ends up partially on my belly!  It was no exception with fair food.  I managed to drip ketchup (and quite a few other things like margarita and powdered sugar from the funnel cake) onto my shirt.  This really isn't my best look since I've also managed to sweat enough liquid to probably fill up 3 spaghetti sauce jars.  (Okay, that may be an exaggeration, but I was definitely sweating up a storm.  It may have something to do with the multiple layers I had around my belly to hold up the extra weight with all that walking.)

After we filled our bellies with fried foods, we decided to check out the Auto Show since Todd will need to buy a new car for work next year.  We actually fell in love with the new GMC Acadia Denali with captain seats... not sure if that is a good thing or not.  At one point I asked Todd for my chapstick that he was holding in his pockets... look at ALL of the stuff that came out of his pockets!  I guess it's a good thing he wears cargo shorts.

We also stumbled in the Pig Races... not planned, but it was interesting to see.  We were cheering for the red piglet, and she won!  Is this one of those things that only happens in Texas?

Before we left, we finished our fried food quest with a delicious funnel cake, but again, we were too excited and ate the whole thing without taking a picture.  Todd also got suckered into the Lotto booth and tried his luck at spinning the wheel for a chance to get into the money booth.  This wasn't his lucky night, and he said he learned not buy lottery tickets.

All in all, we had a great Friday night at the Fair.  We had a successful fried food quest and even found some extra fun!

Baby Classes are Done!

We completed our last baby class at the hospital tonight!  We took several classes including the breastfeeding class, the all-day childbirth prep class and the baby basics class tonight where we learned how to change a diaper and take care of our baby.  It was definitely fun to see Todd with the doll baby, and the nurse gave him a hard time for not holding the baby correctly and supporting the head properly.  I do think he's perfected the football hold.  Does he look like he'll be a good daddy?

37 Week Appointment

This is one reason I really enjoy my weekly doctor's appointments:

They always have the most recent issue of People magazine in the waiting room!  I love being able to catch up on my celebrity scoop, although getting the first appointment after lunch doesn't really give me enough time to read the magazine as thoroughly as I would like.  I  am now caught up on Elin's post divorce interview, and I learned today that Kate Gosselin got this body by working out and eating right, not plastic surgery.  She did have a tummy tuck after the sextuplets but says that only got rid of the excess skin.  Not really sure what I believe, but regardless, this gives me hope that I can look decent after Ali is born.  I'd like to have Kate's body, but I should probably be realistic and set attainable goals.

According to my doctor, Baby Ali is head down in position, has dropped, and I'm 75% effaced!  I think this baby is just about finished cooking!  I haven't started dilating yet, but the doctor thinks that once I start having contractions, she'll be ready to come out.  She did say that she thinks I'll make it at least another week.  Technically, anywhere between 37 and 42 weeks is considered full-term, so I could go into labor any day now!  Wahoo!  We can't wait to meet her.

Baby Ali Update

We went to the doctor yesterday and had a sonogram!  We received good news:
  • All of the crazy things that I did (frozen veggies on top of my belly, yoga positions, pool time - no headstands, though) must have worked!  Ali is head down and in position to deliver!
  • My uterus is measuring small at 33cm (normal is 35cm), but Ali is estimated (based on head size, femur size, etc.) to be weighing 5.5lbs, which is normal.  My doctor estimated that she will weigh 7.5lbs if she comes on time.
  • I have a lot of amniotic fluid which is good.  Todd thinks that means if my water breaks, I'll be gushing liquid so he's even more anxious to go get us a waterproof mattress pad.
  • Baby Ali appears to not have any hair yet, and the sonographer commented that little boys can be bald, but little girls need to have hair.  Let's hope she grows some hair before she comes.  The sonographer also said that she has a small nose.  I think that's a good thing.
All in all, everything looks good and normal.  Whew!  You would think that I would relax now, but I think I just turned one worry - needing to have a C-section - back to another worry - actually having to push this baby out.  Yikes!

Testing with pictures just trying things out to see how it will line up.  I'd love to be able to have multiple pictures on one row.  I've seen several people do it, but i'm not exactly sure how to get 'er done!  Let's see if this works.

What We're In Love With....

Cindy is in love with our new UPPAbaby stroller.  Although the bassinet is super cute, there's also a car seat adapter and a regular stroller seat for Ali to grow into.  I sort of wish I had a cute small dog to put in the basket for walks.  Of course, Coco, the chicken dog, is scared of this stroller.

Todd is in love with our new AT&T U-verse package.  According to him, we now have the fastest internet available at our house.  I'm just worried about having to learn new TV channels.

Do you think this says something about our priorities?

Our Mini-Babymoon!

We hope everyone had a wonderful and relaxing Labor Day Weekend!  We took advantage of our three-day weekend and headed to Fort Worth for a mini-babymoon!  I'm not supposed to be traveling, but I figured that if I really went into labor (ironically during Labor Day Weekend), we would be able to make the 45 minute drive to the hospital with no problem.  Whew, we didn't have test out that theory though.

We headed out to Fort Worth on Sunday morning and went to a Sunday brunch at Lambert's in Fort Worth.  Todd had won a gift card at a golf tournament, so we decided to check it out.  As we were driving there, we thought the area looked a little suspect, so we started to worry.  When we pulled up, there was valet parking which made us a little nervous since neither one of us were dressed up.  We were in Fort Worth people, not Dallas.  I wouldn't have thought twice about valet in Dallas and not dressing up, but we just didn't know what to expect from Fort Worth.  Luckily, people in Fort Worth are pretty casual, and we fit right in.  The food was great, and I would definitely recommend the Sunday brunch to anyone in the area.  Make sure you get the Brioche French Toast and Red Velvet Cake!

Then we checked into the Omni and headed to the pool to enjoy the nice 90 degree weather with a breeze.  Todd was even nice enough to get me some virgin fruity drinks to make me feel like I was having a fun cocktail by the pool.  My fave was the virgin blackberry mojito.  This was my view for 6 hours.

Sorry, no shots of me in a maternity swimsuit!  After our pool time, we headed to dinner at Ruth's Chris.  At first I thought that this dinner was more for Todd than for me, since I have not been able to eat big pieces of meat during my pregnancy.  Surprisingly, I had no problem enjoying my medium rare filet.  Todd teased me with his Caribbean Lobster on top of his filet.  Sucks to be allergic to shellfish.  I also enjoyed a glass of yummy Chilean wine.  After our big meal, we were ready to crash.  You know you're old when you get back to a hotel at 10pm ready to turn in and see bunch of young girls dressed up to go out and your husband says, "Wow those girls have really short skirts on."

It was so nice to be able to sleep in this morning since Coco wasn't there to wake us up.  We then walked around Sundance Square and got a bite to eat.  It was dead in downtown Fort Worth since it was Labor Day and no one was working, but it was nice to take a nice stroll in the 80 degree weather.  We talked about going to the Botanical Gardens, but then we got lazy and decided to come home and rest instead.

Fort Worth was definitely a nice quick getaway.  I think we'll do that again someday!

I should be able to get a sneak peak soon, and the holiday warmers will be available for order on September 15th.

Check out my website at www.cindylev.scentsy.us.  Here are a few of my favorite new things:

Are you ready for football season?  They've come out with a UT warmer - Wahoo!  For you other Texas school fans, there's also A&M and Tech.  And yes, they have the OU warmer, too.  Unfortunately for the Gator fans, there's still not a UF warmer yet, but we're pushing for it!

The Miracle Collection is probably one of my biggest sellers:

And I love the new plug-ins:

The new Scentsy Buddies are super cute!

There are also a lot of new fall and holiday scents that will get you into the spirit.  If you want to smell the new scents, give me a shout.  Also, start thinking about Christmas gifts - Scentsy make great gifts!
